This study, conducted by researchers from Korbit Technologies, Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, and University of Bath, compared the learning outcomes of nearly 200 software developers who took a course on linear regression on either Korbit or Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).

The results showed that students on Korbit achieved learning gains 2 to 2.5 times higher than students on MOOC, as well as higher course completion rates and motivation. The researchers attributed this marked disparity in learning outcomes to the personalisation and active learning strategies used by Korbit. These involve problem-solving exercises and personalized feedback based on machine learning models - this creates a bespoke educational experience that is tuned to each student's individual progress.

Personalised learning has long been viewed as a holy grail for education, and this study demonstrates the potential of AI to improve the quality and accessibility of education, especially in the context of online learning platforms. It in essence creates a symbiotic relationship between technology and education, where AI not only assists but also adapts to meet the unique needs and preferences of each learner. The researchers hope that their work will inspire more research and development of AI-powered learning systems that can provide millions of learners around the world with a highly personalized, active and practical learning experience.

AI-driven platforms represent a paradigm shift in learning, where education is not just effective but also highly tailored to individual needs. As AI continues to evolve, the educational landscape will evolve with it, enriching the lives of students and educators alike. It paints a vision of a world where learning is an exciting, personalised journey that knows no bounds. In the era of AI-driven education, the possibilities are limitless, and the future is bright.
